I found this picture on Pinterest. I think this is a creative use of hand- lettering and calligraphy. The way the eye travels is beautiful, and I love the letter spacing and font size. My favorite element to this typography is the on two words into one. I think this is very interesting. I would love to use this in my later work. To be able to play with two words as one object is clever, two meanings in one. To be able to look at a word or an object made out of type and see that it has multiple meaning by its design is a cool look on typography.

This is one of my books, Amy Poehler's Yes Please. The book is a collection of short stories, ideas and lists. I'm not sure exactly which typeface is used for the author's name, but I believe it is a Neo-Grotesque sans-serif. The title of the book is an actual neon sign that was made for the book cover. I love the way that the sign and the title work together. I feel like the title "Yes Please" is a description of the way she's lived her life--saying yes to all kinds of opportunities which have led to successes and failures, all of which have ultimately led her to where she's at now: fame. Sometimes I forget that I need to have specific intention behind my design choices, and i think this is a good reminder of how important it is for a good design.

My art history book from a couple of semesters ago. I chose to keep it instead of rent it because it's so cool, and part of that is the cover with these wholes punched out of it to reveal a pink background behind the type.

Type in book layouts- Danika Birkes

I've been doing alot of research for page layouts, and while in my searching the typography in the book caught my attention. it has clear hierarchy and meaning. With a nice clean serif and large numbers highlighting the big points, this design was well thought out, with smart type choices.
