What is it? This poster was made for a social media campaign “Food for Thought” for Canadian Target (Part of a series) by designer/illustrator Danielle Evans.
Analyze the piece: I think it was a brilliant choice to actually making the food product the focus of the cam- paign. Your eye is instantly drawn to the type and what it’s made out of. It really draws in the consumers eye and the copy throughout the series is witty and relateable to a large audience. The nice rich wood background and modern packaging of the powder product itself make the composition looking high-end and quality (which is a great reflection on the types of products Target has created the reputation for carrying).
How will this influence my work? Currently in my Art Direction 2 class we are creating a pitch book for the organization Slow Foods which focuses on eating and supporting good healthy foods (everything fast food isn’t). I love how playful this execution of typography is and I really think it would be an interesting element to tie into our campaign. Perhaps letters made using produce or soil the possibilities are endless!
In the past year I was introduced to lettering and it has really taken a hold of me (Jessica Hische is my idol haha) this example only furthers my love and appreciation for this newly reawakened art. It can be a valuable communication tool and lends itself to a wide variety of executions and clientele.
